-Do regeneration medicine and genome research to a remote medical treatment with an example.-

National identification number (My Number) system is vital to maintain the future social security system. The ID not only enables rational social security benefit according to our income, but also can improve our life by connecting a wide range of administrative systems. Particularly, great hope is put on its medical application.

In Japan, for medical ID, there are negative opinions in terms of personal information protection. However, in some advanced countries, it’s actively utilized making full use of state-of-the-art IT technology.

In this symposium, we will see examples in Estonia, which is the most advanced country in terms of medical ID utilization, and examine issues and possibilities related to it in Japan. We will also examine the ways of home medical care for an aging society as an ID application example.

This symposium have two parts: in Session 1, we will examine measures to improve the quality of home medical care, which will undoubtedly increase. In Session 2, we will discuss possibilities of the practical realization of regenerative medicine and gene research and its obstructions. In the last part, we will put together a policy recommendation based on the recognition that we should introduce national medical ID.
