Workshop on Managing International Conflicts in East Asia

East Asia, the region that has shown the quickest expansion of economy in the world, is also developing alarming symptoms of geopolitical instability, leading to questions that cannot be easily answered. What are the causes that brought about such conflicts?　 How far will it go? Will the recent contention of a territorial control recede in the future, or further develop into a major confrontation?

The Security Studies Unit of the Policy of Alternatives Research Institute has launched a new program that aims to answer these questions. As the first international meeting of this research project, we will invite approximately 40 leading scholars from around the world, along with decision makers from concerned governments, so that we may provide concrete recommendation, both short-term and long-term, for a more stable and mutually beneficial region. The central critical question is whether the existence frameworks for regional governance are adequately suited to confront the serious challenges that are painfully self-evident.

As part of this international meeting, we will hold a public session to invite the public to join 6 experts as bellow in the discussion. We look forward for your participation.
