Energy in China: Its Outlook and Policy

Regarding the Changes in the Keynote Speaker, Venue, etc.

Thank you as always for your participation in Energy Policy Roundtable 2012.

For the forthcoming 4th Energy Policy Roundtable 2012, we have initially made arrangements to invite Dr. Yang Hongwei, Director of the Energy Efficiency Center, Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission, as our keynote speaker. Unfortunately however, Dr. Yang cannot be with us to present his keynote speech due to the changes in circumstances that made his visit to Japan difficult on this occasion. Nevertheless, in light of the large number of requests we have received from participants who have expressed interest in gaining insights on China's energy situation, the subject of Dr. Yang's scheduled speech, we have, in lieu, invited Professor Li Zhidong from Nagaoka University of Technology to deliver a keynote speech on the subject of the current conditions, policy and future outlook on energy in China. As many of you already know, Professor Li has long been engaged in research activities related to this field, achieving numerous remarkable results. As regards the panel discussion following the keynote speech, it will be conducted by the same panelists earlier announced.

Please also note that the change of the keynote speaker at this rather abrupt timing (in less than one month from the day of the event) has inevitably led us to make slight adjustments. We have decided to change the venue to the conference room in the Ito International Research Center, which is often used for seminars, in the hope of seeing the participants indulge themselves in in-depth discussions in a more easily accessible nearby location. Although we do not necessarily ask each and every participant to speak out, please feel free to voice your opinions and contribute to the discussions verbally, as they are always welcomed.
