Based on the minutes of the meeting with NLD regarding electricity development, PARI has been conducting research, advisory work, and capacity-building in collaboration with the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory, UC Berkeley RAEL

As requested by U Tun Tun Hein (the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives), Project Professor Hisashi Yoshikawa (PARI) demonstrated our research results at a public hearing on September 13. He stressed the importance of "Evidence-Based Policy Making (EBPM)," and addressed the recent technical improvements in renewable energy technology, the significant comparative advantages of off-grid solutions for rural electrification, and the cost-based pricing of electricity and energy. The address attracted the attention of a bipartisan group of parliament members of parliament, who were interested in further hearings on more specific topics in the near future.

Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (Union Parliament) is a young institution, based on the 2008 constitution, that opened in 2011. While the people of Myanmar have high expectations for this democratic institution, its expertise, specifically in technology policy areas such as electricity and energy, must be strengthened. Subsequently, we will make further efforts to provide impartial, neutral, and independent academic services for the sake of EBPM.
